Columbia police are continuing to investigate after an undetonated explosive was found buried in a flower bed on the 700 block of East Broadway around noon Wednesday.

Officials say a department sapper arrived and secured the device without incident.

Christian Tabak, the Columbia Police Public Information Specialist, says it’s unclear how long the device was buried there or by whom and it remains to be determined whether the device actually has any explosive abilities.
