Many famous tourist attractions have come under fire after a post on a popular internet forum caught the attention of thousands.

In a viral Reddit thread posted to r/AskReddit, Redditor u/tade757 (otherwise known as the original poster, or OP) posed a question to the forum’s 35.8 million members: “What famous place isn’t worth visiting? to be visited?

Posted on Monday, the viral thread received more than 24,000 votes and nearly 20,000 comments.

Responding to the original poster with a myriad of international responses, including Stonehenge, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Mona Lisa, many of the thread’s top responses focused on some of the most famous sites in the United States.

While Redditors have made sure to spread their disdain across all 50 states nationwide, specific sites, like Times Square in New York and Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, have drawn the ire of many.

Complaining about dirty sidewalks and the disappointing nature of names and stars embedded in concrete, Redditor u/CaninseBassus took aim at the 1.3-mile, 2,700-star monument dedicated to Hollywood’s biggest personalities.

“Hollywood Walk of Fame,” u/CaninseBassus wrote in a comment that received more than 8,500 votes.

“It’s a sidewalk and outside maybe big events where they can clean those around that pictures might be taken, otherwise it’s just covered in dirt from people’s shoes and some are barely legible because they haven’t been cleaned in ages,” they continued.

For Times Square, Redditors contextualized their distaste for the square, citing an oversaturation of electronic ads and a specific holiday as reasons to leave it out.

“I work near Times Square in Manhattan,” Redditor u/MariachiBandMonday wrote. “If you have an ad blocker on your computer, you’ll hate Times Square.”

“Times Square on New Years Eve,” added Redditor u/roman_fyseek. “Forget it. It was *never* worth it.”

Of these 25 sites, five are in New York. And among the 10 most visited tourist sites, three are located in the Big Apple.

But while the Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport, Grand Central Station and Central Park all attract millions of visitors each year, no place is as magnetic as Times Square.

With 50 million annual visitors, Times Square is the most visited tourist spot in the United States.

Despite a handful of low rankings and negative comments on Reddit, millions of eager tourists continue to flock to both locations and will likely continue to do so for generations. And like many other tourist attractions in the United States, both places will continue to receive derogatory remarks on the Internet.

Throughout the comments section of the original poster’s viral thread, Redditors gave their thoughts on other US tourist attractions, pointing out the many flaws in locations ranging from Mount Rushmore to Niagara Falls to Plymouth. Rock.

“You can see Mount Rushmore perfectly from the road,” assured Redditor r/introvert-i-1957. “No need to pay to see it.”

“Niagara [Falls] is a really cool site but not worth visiting if you stay on the US side,” added Redditor u/MuluLizidrummer. “The Canadian side is much better.”

“Plymouth Rock in Plymouth, MA,” Redditor u/Urban_Disaster replied. “It’s literally just a small rock.”
