The father of teenage twins has taken to the internet to confess to a life-changing discovery, after discovering the children weren’t his biologically.
The man made the revelation on Reddit’s r/TrueOffMyChest subreddit, under the username Throw-Away_familife. He explained that he and his wife, Kelly, had been married for 18 years.
He summed up how they found out, saying, “My wife Kelly and I have known each other for over 20 years and have been married for 18. We have 17-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, and I have found they are not mine 2 days ago My children took these ancestry tests for the family and we found out that I am not their father.
He explained that he met Kelly at a job right out of college and they decided to start their own business.
He wrote: “We fell in love and a year after starting our business we got married. A few months after the wedding we had a fight about which direction we wanted to take our business and I left our house. . She came to me a few weeks later and we made a compromise.”
Ever since they got back together, they’ve been “inseparable” and Kelly got pregnant soon after.
“We were always there for each other, we could always count on each other. I loved her so much. She was a part of me and I couldn’t even imagine a life without her,” he said. he wrote.
After the secret was revealed, it turned her world upside down, as Kelly tried to explain her actions.
He said: “I trusted her until it happened. Kelly was constantly crying and apologizing. She told me that during the time we argued at the start of our marriage, she got drunk one night and slept with a random guy, and she hasn’t cheated on me since.
“The betrayal has left me disoriented. I told Kelly that I need time to process this and am currently staying at a hotel. I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore, the last two days have been blurred.
“I feel like a zombie, completely unable to feel or process anything. I have no intention of abandoning my children – I may not be their father, but I’m still their father and I love them very much.”
Writing the message, he said he was a “mess” and was trying to “process” what happened. He added: “Kelly has always been a wonderful wife and a great business partner. I don’t know if I’ll be able to look at her the same way again or be the same person again. I don’t know how to move forward. »
The confession, shared on Sunday, garnered more than 18,000 upvotes and can be read here. Many people commented on the situation, pointing out that Kelly never said a word about her infidelity.
“She would have never told him and he only found out through new DNA testing,” said -Attractive-nuisance.
ParticularApricot642 commented, “Who knew Ancestry was here breaking up families.”
Shontsu pointed out, “She might not have known it, but she sure would have known there was a chance. Pregnancy calculations aren’t that hard.”
Vista333 thought, “You bring up another good point: in addition to giving her husband the twins to raise, she also risked giving him STDs. What a way to cope as a newlywed.”
SkyShazad replied, “Good advice there, but if it was the fact that she only cheated, you can deal with it, but she cheated and had children, that’s what makes it difficult.”
WenseslaoMoguel-o replied, “And the secret remained for 18 whole years, it’s messed up.”
Devilthedankdawg sympathized, “See, that’s like my biggest fear. You can never really know until you take the test. I’m so sorry this happened to you.”
PeteyPorkchops fumed: “She not only lied to you for 17 years, but also to her own children. Whatever decision you make about her, you at least try to maintain a relationship with your children. Blood does not doesn’t make a family.”
While Ginger-pony056 added, “Ooooh. THAT. Yesssssss. Now you have a man who doesn’t know he has twins and 2 kids who are probably in shock. Oh the tangled web she’s weaved .”
