Slow and lagging internet often frequent the internet experience of Walt Disney World guests when visiting the resort. Well, there could be some good news along the way, as a permit was filed on May 4 for “Fiber Optic Expansion Phase 1” which could dramatically improve the current internet.
Disney has yet to officially confirm details regarding this permit or its impact on the guest experience at Walt Disney World, but it definitely seems like a step in the right direction.
It states on the permit that the expiry date will be one year from filing, which in this case will make it May 4, 2023, unless an extension is agreed. We therefore hope to see the start of work on this fiber optic expansion phase soon.
Currently, guests must be online using their smartphone for the majority of scheduling services at Walt Disney World through the My Disney Experience app for dining reservations, MagicMobile and the Genie+ system, and Individual Lightning Lane.
Having a fast and reliable internet connection at Walt Disney World is imperative and this is an area where the resort has often gone down. Have you encountered a poor internet connection? Let us know your thoughts on this newly filed permit by leaving us a comment below or on our Facebook page.
