Parents and caregivers in possession of the item, which could break during use, creating a fall hazard for children, should dispose of the product immediately, the CPSC said.
The product, which comes in a red, orange or white bag, is a single-use device intended for emergency use to lower infants and young children under 75 pounds to the ground floor in the event of an emergency. fire or other emergency. The child is believed to have been safely lowered into the bag, but investigators discovered that the bag could come off its line, causing the child to fall.
The product is stored in a zippered carry bag with “BABYRESCUE” printed on the outside. Some products may contain a small white “Made in China” label.
No incidents related to the BabyRescue Rapid Escape Device have been reported to CPSC.
According to the CPSC, Safety International LLC stopped selling the product in December, but the company has not accepted a recall.
